Finally!

My ticker is a-movin'. I lost 2 pounds this week (went to my TOPS meeting tonight). I know my ticker says 3, technically it's 2.6 total, but I guess they round up. I don't like that. Oh well. It's a very minor thing to dislike at least :)

Another yay! for tonight: I walked/jogged 2 miles last night on my treadmill! That's been my goal for awhile, but for the longest time 1 mile was hard enough, then finally managed to get to 1.5 miles and stay there for awhile, but now it's 2 and I'm not going back. Eventually I'll be able to run faster (right now I alternate between walking at 3mph and jogging at 4.5mph, more the walking though) and be able to go farther, but I'm really happy just being here. With the MS I have problems with my legs falling asleep when I start to get going so it's walking for 5 minutes, jogging for a couple minutes, stopping, shaking my leg(s) out for a minute, then back to walking and so on. Pain in the ass, but I'm getting used to the pins and needles feelings (sad lol) and I think it's best to just keep working out everyday and not let it stop me.

Yay for good news today!

Still going, mostly

I'm following most of my goals (tracking food, staying in the recomended fat and calories), but some of the physical ones have been put on the back burner. Siri and I have had some nasty cold for the past couple days and today is a little better so hopefully it will be gone soon. I don't like feeling like crap, but I do like that all Siri wants to do is snuggle and relax. Defintely better than when I'm having a really bad day and she's full of energy and just wants to go go go lol. I'm going to try my hardest to work out later tonight though. I am feeling a bit better and I need to stay in the habit of doing it every night. I might just walk and see how it goes.

Whew...

My work out tonight kinda kicked my ass. Just jogging on the treadmill and some strength exercises, but my legs are sore now.

I had another TOPS meeting today, down 0.6 of a pound. Doesn't help my ticker any, but I'll take it. It will suck if it keeps moving this slow forever, but anything helps. Just a short little update, I'm going to come post better stuff soon. My life just really isn't terribly interesting most of the time :P

Good Day

Not very exciting, but good nonetheless. Just did the meal planning for the next week and went grocery shopping for everything. It was also really nice today so we played outside and I introduced Siri to the wonders of sidewalk chalk :) I did track all my food today and I think I did pretty well. I was right where I should be with the calories and fat and didn't even feel deprived. I've also been drinking a ton of water. Makes me have to pee every 2 seconds, but it's good for me and hopefully will help with trying to lose. I didn't go to a class today, but I did do a work out on the treadmill and some stuff with the medicine ball for my arms.

I know I'm supposed to weigh in on Wednesdays, but I decided to do it Tuesdays now because I joined TOPS (taking off pounds sensibly) and will weigh in there every week. I tried a meeting out and want to keep going. It seems like really good support and the meetings are held really close to my house. There were mostly older ladies there, but there was also some women closer to my age who are moms too. Honestly it is also just nice to have something outside of the house to go do by myself while the husband watches the kiddo.

Quick Post

Not too much to share today. Got up really early for a doctor's appointment and now I'm exhausted. I did do one of my goals today and tried a new class at the Y. Power Pump. It wasn't too bad. It was hard work but the time seemed to go by quickly which is always nice. I hate classes where it feels like 1 minutes is really 10. Also I'm still logging all my food. Today wasn't too bad, but I did eat a not healthy breakfast and had a bigger portion for dinner than I really needed. Hopefully the extra work out balances it out a teeny bit :P

Kinda Crappy Sunday

Well, today was Mother's Day. Can't say it was any different than any other day though. The husband didn't really do anything. Kind of hurts, being a mom is the majority of my time and effort and on the one day that's meant to recognize that he doesn't plan anything, even just buy me a card. I know that sounds cliche, but I really would be perfectly happy with a card, just something small to show he cares. *sigh* Oh well. He's usually a good husband, but he has his moments (as I have mine, I know).

I'm trying hard not to let the whole Mother's Day thing get me down, but it's so hard when you're already feeling a little low. I'll write about my whole MS ordeal eventually (I think it would be therapeutic even if no one else ever reads it), but basically because of it my vision went out in my left eye, I did 5 days of IV steroid treatment and it helped a lot, but there hasn't been much improvement since then (3 months ago). My vision is still blurry and the color is off, duller. It's really annoying. I've been told it will get better, it just might take longer. Some days I'm so used to it I almost stop noticing and some days (like today) I just want to cry. I try to just remember the problems I am having are more on the annoying side than the severe side.

So...After all my complaining, here's my goals for this week. Hope it will help keep me accountable to have them on here.

1. Keep tracking all the food I eat.

2. Try to stay in the recommended fat grams and calories every day.

3. Do 20-30 minutes on the treadmill in the evening.

4. Find more active things to do during the day (take a walk with Siri, play some of the exercise games on the Wii, walk around the mall, try a new class at the Y, etc.).

I'm going to do weigh-ins on Wednesday. I get weighed in at my class at the Y on Wednesdays anyway so it's just easier. It means my little tracker has to stay at 0 for awhile longer, but that's ok.

Lazy Saturday

We didn't do too much today. The husband works weekends (9am-9pm) so just us girls. Our weekend is Monday and Tuesday when he's home and we can go do more fun things. Today we just ran to the store for groceries, I cleaned the house while Siri played and sometimes helped me, then we spent a lot of time outside in the backyard.

I did ok with the eating today. I had a waffle for breakfast, chicken potstickers, brown rice, and broccoli for lunch, toasted wheat thins with low fat veggie cream cheese and strawberries for snack, and we're having roasted chicken, mashed potatoes (skim milk, very little butter), and green beans for dinner. I joined My Fitness Pal today. I'm doing a program at the YMCA that's for Diabetes Prevention and have been tracking my eating in these little books they give us, but doing it online with all the nutrition facts right there is so much easier. I also found a nice little weight loss ticker that I added on here (upper right hand corner). It's kinda sad because it's at a big fat 0 for weight lost, but I am going to make it go up higher. I have a LOT of weight to lose, but I don't care if I get there by losing 1 pound a week, even half a pound a week, I just need to keep working toward the lower number and not farther away.

Tomorrow I'm going to do my weekly goals, makes more since to me to do it Sunday night. I added a picture of the cute flowers my parents and little sister sent me for Mother's Day. Totally made my day!

What being Maggie is like

-Being a wife to my husband of almost 4 years. Love this part of being me most of the time. We have our minor annoyances every once in awhile, but we really are meant for eachother.

-Being a stay-at-home-mom to my 2 year old daughter. I also love this part of my life most of the time. The times I don't aren't because of my daughter, it's more the getting bored with doing dishes 3 times a day, and being stuck in the house when the weather is crappy.

-Being crazy about my weight. Buying lots of books about diet and excercise, doing really well for a few weeks, keeping track of everything I eat, working out every day, then something stressful happens and I just don't care, I eat crap, don't work out, stay there for awhile, then go back to the tracking and working out. It really is exhausting and my weight isn't going anywhere but slowly even higher up when I so want it to be going down.

-Dealing with being diagnosed with MS somewhat recently. The problems started on my 25th birthday and I was officially diagnosed about a month later. To be perfectly honest it really really sucks. My head is still a bit in the sand about this one though.

-Being a little too obsessed with Petville on Facebook. Sad, I know. I don't play it for hours or check on it every 5 minutes, I really only play at night and maybe for half an hour tops....But I care a little too much about what level I'm at. My life is a little boring right now, I have to get my thrills somehow lol.

There's more parts to me, but those are the important things (minus the whole Petville thing, that was more of a confession of sorts). I'm going to try to actually blog more. Not just about weight stuff (although I know it will come up), but just about life as well.
